Why You should make Champagne Bottle Art
Do you ever wonder what to do with an empty champagne bottle once you've finished it? Especially if it is a nice bottle or from celebrating a happy occasion that you want to preserve the memory of? Here's how to turn it into a piece of luxury artwork for your home (they sell online for hundreds of dollars!) that will be a gorgeous showpiece.
“I only drink champagne on two occasions, when I am in love and when I am not.” –Coco Chanel
Step #1 - Grab a blank Canvas
I found mine at Dollar Tree - they sell 16x20s for $3, and they even have a black version, so no paint is needed!
Step #2 - Break the champagne bottle
It's important to do this safely, so definitely protect your eyes and hands. I used a plastic drop cloth draped over the bottle to eliminate shattered glass flying everywhere.
Step #3 - Arrange the pieces
Once your bottle is broken, select the larger pieces and arrange them on the canvas however you like. I chose to keep it in the general shape of the bottle, and made sure the label was salvageable.
Step #4 - Cover with Epoxy Resin
Pour the resin slowly and evenly over the bottle, making sure it is fully covered. Depending on the size of your pieces, you may have to do more than one coat as it will drip off the bottle and onto the flat canvas. Once the bottle is completely covered, fill in any empty spots so the entire canvas is coated. Let dry for 24 hours.
